You know, you can feel sorry for guwon for being shot by the guy he loves and root for him when he's being ganged up on WHILE acknowledging he's a terrifying, cruel dude who doesn't care about anybody else (except teach now)

You know, you could also realize that if Guwon didn't care for anyone else he wouldn't have had this role to protect the town and hold off the hounds from going feral. And that was the case even before Jinwoo came along. Of course he's in no way some wholesome character, his actions that we know of so far have been abrupt and cruel - even if they were often deemed necessary for the overall survival of the town -, his personality is scary and the strictness with which he enforces rules and repercussions are chilling. We have also yet to find out about his motivations, whose orders he's following, to what extent his choices are influenced, as well as the nature of his origin.

As for teach, he has his own mystery surrounding him and who knows whether subconsciously he's trying to make up for having taken questionable actions in the past, but stubbornly insisting on some idealistic beliefs about how humanity are supposed to protect everyone and do no harm and surely they'll be able to survive, even amidst an apocalypse, is dumb af. Dumb because he's actively undoing their guaranteed protection without a well thought-out plan, seeing as the failed to account for the hounds' imminent payback. Which is also fine to acknowledge for an MC to make mistakes and have flaws, while still trusting that there's a point to it further in the plot.
