Like he did not even intentionally killed the prince's maid in the fire (het set it up but the tradrgy for prience is not something you can set up) , so the result of prience being disgusted by fire scars is unpredictable. Betting that his lover not be rated for 10 years by insane-rapist minded- prience just because of a scar is .... he surely knows one can cover face and do bad things..
Also he has to keep killing her family members throughout this period.
She has the scar, suffering... (even he never knew she had to do herself-and even than what could he do as he dig the hole himself)
Basically ml chose the worst ways to make her life a hell for ten years and even in the finale she is alone as her whole tribe died....

I couldn't forgive ml for killing remaining members to keep her safe. He could have hide them or better from the very start he could make her seem like death in that fire and let the emperor have other tribe girls (choosing a willing one to be empress). Or he could kill the other prience very early even taking opposition.
I just dont like it when innocent die on others love affairs. Ml particularly choose the one option that kills her all family members. Knowing maid is also her family member doesn't even help. And they even made her maid infertile so she is sole successor again..
