I know Miyoshi is portrayed to be Shizuki's friend but I genuinely feel like he's the 2nd worst character after Yukiji's dad (love all the other characters tho, it's just these two I'm not fond of). I feel like when they were in school atleast he might have been less arrogant towards him because he just saw him as a little brother or junior he's trying to teach music to, but the only reason he even wants Shizuki in his jazz band is because that's the only time HE can enjoy playing music but doesn't give two shits if Shizuki starts hating himself or his sax because of it. He loves to put him down saying he isn't capable of matching his talent, he can't make it to pro but ironically enough, he is soo SO much more lacking as a musician who has no soul in his music because he's incapable of loving it wholeheartedly like the others do even if it's just a hobby for them. He's just tied music to his self-worth because he apparently has a knack for it and it was pushed on him since childhood but the fact that he even deigns playing anything other than jazz as a disrespect to music itself baffled me and confirmed it once and for all for me, that for Miyoshi music and his status as a musician is not something born out of passion/for the love of the art itself, it's the only thing keeping his arrogance afloat which is why he's so observed in it. End of rant (I majored in music so yes, I am very deeply affected by this fictional storyline).
