I'm a bit overwhelmed so let's lay it down; Keal is getting stronger as the chapter progresses as the curse is close to its completion. By this point, Keal is able to take more control at night, and is aware of everything that's happening during the daytime (despite not being able to be in control of the body).
A demon has been up Keal's ass from the previous life for whatever reason (maybe revenge? Maybe love?) and targeted Sajun after he world found peace and Keal became the ruler (?). Sajun went rampant and Indiscriminately started killing guards and maybe innocent civilians which forced Keal (assuming) to end Shaun's life.
(Maybe Sajun died before the two could get married which makes it all the more devastating)
Talon probably wanted to give up on Sajun after he got cursed but Keal wanted to cure him somehow... Which obviously didn't work out.
This is a theory... Maybe, once talon gave up, Keal made a deal with this demon, probably wanting to save Sajun no matter the cost and reunite again, which ended up In Keal getting cursed, and clinging onto ml (does that make them separate entities...?). And because it's a deal with the devil... The side effect was bad luck.
