1. He flip flopped so easily.
2. He was cruel to a woman who just had a miscarriage. Regardless of whatever her crimes were, that baby was innocent and to not let her mourn that child and to not understand that that changes things is insane. Even women on death row have their sentence pushed back if she’s found to be pregnant. In fact, women are assumed to be pregnant even if it’s impossible (I’m talking lesbians, birth control and full hysterectomy) by doctors so I’m shocked that the doctor who examined her after her self poison attempt didn’t check if she’s pregnant.
3. He knew lizen was rose and that’s why he had those dreams but not once did he ever investigate that lead. If he loved rose as much as he says he does, he would have entertained that possibility when “rose” disappeared as soon as “lizen” was captured and he had those dreams.
4. He rubs salt into the wound of a woman who just had a miscarriage by bringing up her parents. The very same parents she is in jail to protect. He knew that and he knew she was mentally unstable and decided to kick a dying horse and beat it and beat it and beat it for no reason other than he could. He could have easily just not said anything since she’s been poisoned far worse than he ever was, has been through a miscarriage and had no follow up healthcare, has no idea what’s going to happen to her family after this and is aware that her crimes are so severe that she’s on death row. It was unnecessarily cruel.
It’s not so much about him wanting lizen to pay for her crimes or for punishing a criminal. That’s all fine and actually I’m glad we see her taking accountability for it and it not being swept under the rug. It’s about his callous treatment of an unstable pregnant woman and his wishy washy nature and his lackadaisical approach to finding rose. Those things are things he needs to make up for. Especially that he was so cruel to her after the death of his own child. It would have been kinder to have let her die than to force her to live with not only the consequences of her actions that have now been brought to light in front of the whole nation, but also the trauma that she went through in that prison holding and in the gallows. The latest chapter shows exactly how cruel it is to bring her back from the brink of death like this.

Okay, so it's because he's unnecessarily cruel to a person who was pregnant and had a miscarriage? That makes sense, especially when the other death row inmates treated her differently when they found out, whereas he became crueler. Thank you for explaining it to me! I look forward to the angst of him realizing that the baby was his regretting his actions >:)
Yep. Under international humanitarian laws including the fourth Geneva convention laws, it states that pregnant people must have their basic rights met including prenatal appointments and if they are charged with a crime, that charge must be lessened in the event its a death penalty crime. Pregnant women are NOT allowed to be death row inmates. The basic human rights applies to ALL people but it’s especially important to people carrying innocent civilians aka babies. It goes against protocol 2 to do what he did. It’s an international WAR CRIME. I don’t think the vast majority of people are truly aware of how bad what he did was but as someone who likes knowing my rights as a human and international protections… it’s hella bad. These war crimes still happen today with organisations like ICE so most people will be relating what happened to her with what is currently happening with ICE detainees and it’s giving them a visceral reaction. It may be a historical fantasy but it truly is a deep issue.

Okay I just binged this whole thing and I'm genuinely confused. Why does everyone hate just the male lead? Rose maimed him, betrayed him, and abandoned him. He punished a criminal who took everything from him without knowing that she helped him too. I think his reaction to finding "that woman" was reasonable, and I actually think he accepted that she was Rose way too easily. Why are people demanding that he repents? I mean, regardless of if she was manipulated (which he was told), she tried to take his life. They traumatized each other, so why are we putting all the blame on the ML? Why are people acting like the FL is just a victim?
If anybody with that stance could tell me why, I'd really appreciate it. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
