I like that they're more expressive in this one compared to kmiyk
Reasons: 1) It would be impossible for a single artist to handle two series with simultaneous publication schedules on their own; the workload for weekly updates is simply too heavy. 2) The artist for *KMIYC* does a great job on that series, but wouldn't be a good fit for this one. *DMIYC* requires an artist with a knack for comedy—since the story is a comedy with tragic undertones—who can draw *chibis* well, respect the canon, and convey extreme emotions, given that the series' core revolves around Grayson discovering emotions. YP excels at all of this. The *KMIYC* artist produces beautiful artwork, which is crucial for the series she illustrates, as Chase is canonically the most handsome alpha in that universe. However, that level of aesthetic perfection isn't essential here; solid artwork suffices, and stylistic distortions actually complement the humorous tone of much of the story. Furthermore, that illustrator doesn't draw *chibis* as well as YP does; her characters lack expressiveness (bordering on robotic in some scenes), she lacks a comedic touch, and she often overlooks canon details (such as the depiction of Pete's hair color in the early chapters—which should have matched Chase's). If she were to illustrate *DMIYC*, she would ruin the series! She is doing the right job for her specific skillset, and YP is doing a great job here.
Agree. I remember when the first season of KMIYC came out the people were so critical with the artist because they felt like the characters facial expressions were too stiff and lack emotion . I think for season 2 it got better . But DMIYC is ABOUT those facial expressions . It’s crucial for the story to portrayed them right because neither of them(Grayson and Dane) know about their own emotions , so their thoughts are not enough .
