I reread this from start to finish because I heard season 2 was coming to an end and I'm so glad I did because you get to see so many more details you missed and so MANY little hints about the sexual exploitation that Jingi is hinted to have faced in his childhood in earlier chapters. Like his dirty talk, the way he's so comfortable talking about it with Heonjae,
This is my personal interpretation and theory but it's so so interesting how at least in my eyes, Jingi at first favoured MC because got some catharsis out of repeating the acts he was forced upon but now as the aggressor in a werid way, getting to feel that control he had stripped of him for so many years. I think it was also a mix of him being so deep in his suicide ideation that he didn't care how far he was taking it because he already sees himself as a bad person for well absolutely heinous shit he did to the other inmates but I'm pretty sure for also being a "bad son/brother".
So much of his actions seem like and are manipulation at some points but he genuinely has and wants the best for people he genuinely cares about. I think a lot of his self conflict with MC and Heonjae was realising he actually liked him but "came to his senses" because he realised he was gonna die anyway, so might as well let Heonjae be with him, no matter how much he wanted to.
A lot of the conflict from the brothers come from their individual needs and defense mechanisms being the opposite of the other. Jingi actively hides all the shit he's been through because he doesn't want anyone knowing about it and doesn't want anyone hurt because of it while Heonjae desperately wants and craves to be needed and wanted and to be vulnerable with. Jingi can't provide him with any of that, Heonjae is too mentally unstable to realise what's going on with Jingi especially since he won't tell him anything.
Side note, I know Jingi when he's drunk, Ik it supposed to be him being true to his subconscious when he's drunk or smth but idk if it's just me but he feels so childish especially in one scene where Jingi is drunk but MC isn't and the whole time is acting like a child throwing a tantrum on why MC won't let him kiss him, especially after knowing his past, I wonder when he was being filmed he would act this way too which is why he acts so hostile during sober sex. Jingi is a surprisingly polarising and interesting character. I look forward to more of author's work!
