I've been contemplating whether Kyousuke's memories should be retained or not. But thinking back to when I was reading "The Pearl Boy", I feel like it's a good thing if his memories don't come back, especially if all they hold are the pain and suffering he endured from childhood until he met Itou-san. Still, the downside is that he might lose the memory of the very first time they met.
Considering how long this story has been around, Itou-san has always been a member of the yearning club.
