this is soo gooddd but also sad :((

SPOILER:

from what i understood on the raws, i dont think the ml was the reincarnation of the prev emperor but he does dream of the past and on the process came to yearn the mc (that was how he became aware of him) doing everything just to have a chance of encounter. also, the mc did love the ml and even thought of no longer ascending but then something happened that made him lose his trust to the ml. long story short, he found the talisman done by the prev emperor who locked him, on their bedchamber and confronted the ml if he's him (the ml told the mc he is aware of the prev emperor since he saw him and mc on his dreams ever since). also the orb which was the mc's power was swallowed i think by the prev emperor? and that's why most of the royal descendants die young since they can't contain the power. as for the ending, i dont know if the mc did ascend, but the ml did die :(( while the mc grieved for his death. there are 2 side stories, 1st the ml was reincarnated as a fox looking for a companion and mc was traveling the world and came aware of rumors of a fox causing ruckus. the mc was begged for help which he agreed and encountered the ml. anw, they lived for a month bec the fox proposed it and he was only looking for companion because of loneliness. after a month, the mc left the ml alone in the mountain. the 2nd ss was the mc encountering a child which i believed is the ml's reincarnation and blessing him a happy life and leaving again (not sure if he did ascend). both sidestories were bittersweet and more on yearning i think

ps. i think the fox ml was a reincarnation too but im not really sure since it was not pertained if it was canon to the main story
