Understand what exactly? If someone is made used to suffer they'll never change from their circumstances. I dislike that Taeui had a stubborn nature which is tamed by Ilay now. And apparently it will never change back...
Before Taeui had fire, from his mandatory korean military days to his unhrdo days, he was The bravest I've ever seen. And now
Taeui's character has been written to be taken advantage of by his dad, by his brother, and other ppl like Kyle to tame Ilay & save his kidnapped friends too... And he does it unintentionally, but Ilay is the only one he could be stubborn with & make him do what he likes, but guy is busy being weak as hell for no reason. Forgive me if I don't like this part of their dynamics right now.
I mean..dude tried to escape and you saw what happened to him after that. Ig at some point he has no choice but to accept it lol. Not to mention seeing ilay change in various ways is making him develop feelings for him. It's complicated the way it works. Tay is one of those who values his life over his morals I mean hell he said he wouldn't ever bottom but he had to, he had no other choice than to adapt. It would be more accurately Stockholm syndrome if not for the fact that tay did have some feelings for Ilay even before he escaped and what not.
Though I do agree about the part that tay acting as if he has amnesia and forgetting everything ilay does or did to just move on is kind of boring.

Honestly Taeui should atleast fight back atleast once . Recently he's just been letting himself be used and abused for no reason. His muscles and training are just for show or what? What a character downgrade tch tch tch
