bro literally out of hospital after trying to kill himself. After a suicide attempt either people cry a lot for "no reason", or they become aggressive or catatonic in other cases. Specially bc he is also withdrawing from alcohol at the same time.
I don't think his reaction is purely emotional, it's also chemical. Probably they gave him a sedative in hospital too to help with the pain etc and his brain is a mess
his personality was always a bit more emotional imo. trying to kill himself and being alone after a heartbreak and experiencing first love made him unstable and a lot more emotional too. so i think it's normal that he is like this now.
