MC fucking sucks and ML goes above and beyond to cater to him, especially for someone who has (from what I believe the aunt implied) either a learning disability or brain impairment.
-They meet on a literal blind date and MC continuously acknowledges their shotgun wedding, but still wants to throw a fit at every turn like ML misled him into a true love marriage. (MC said ML was odd/direct but called it refreshing; realized he was looking for someone who was easygoing and independent.)
-ML consistently pushed direct communication with MC so he can resolve any mistakes/situations he doesn’t understand; MC doesn’t do that and prefers to lash out.
-ML repeatedly assures MC there is no status issue between families and MLs family has been nothing but generous/kind to MCs family; MC again lashes out at ML instead of having a mature conversation. (What the fuck did you want his family to do with that many bikes? The article didn’t come out before the wedding and even if it did, you accidentally met each other. You think BIKES are worth a conglomerate marriage bsffr.)
-ML is the Executive Director of a huge business and had to squeeze in time for work on their honeymoon. A honeymoon for what was essentially a marriage of convenience at this point as they knew each other less than a month; MC lashes out (see a pattern) at ML both in the plane and on the beach. He brings up divorce for the first time here like it’s a reasonable reaction because he’s not getting the attention he thinks he deserves from the man who literally just offered to get him a ticket to that plane any time he asked.
-ML has shown time and again that he has communication issues and that he wants to do what he can to make MC happy; MC has never shown that he prioritizes MLs feelings or his desires. He’s consistently proven to be selfish. Even up to the most recent chapters, he brought up divorce AGAIN as a “joke” and ML ended his trip early.
Then he doesn’t even tell him it’s a joke outright, but makes him wait anxiously (for no reason) only to then say “it was a joke, but I DID think about it…so part of me meant it.” Knowing how hard the ML tries. Like, MC is fucking ridiculous. He’s HAD this job, you JUST got here, the meeting was planned MONTHS ago. Acting like a goddamn toddler. Why agree to this marriage just to look to divorce at a hair trigger.
I hate to throw this around, but this is the behavior abusers due down the line to put you on edge about any action you take. Obviously, the author isnt trying to create that kind of character. But goes to show the behavior they probably think is “complex” is actually just juvenile and toxic.
