No like that seriously pisses me off just because it's realistic it does not mean it's good . A story can become good when it has elements which the reader likes . A fantasy story can also be good while not being realistic.and all those people under some bl saying it's realistic pls stop and give another reason. And that's my OPINION
you bring up a very good point, because to me, “realistic” is a claim about the world, not the story. like yes, people forgive terrible things every day. nobody's arguing that. the argument is whether the story got me there, and "realistic" is what people say when it didn't. it defends the event and skips the writing.
if anything it cuts the other way. "realistic" in these threads means "I understand why he'd forgive him." ok, but where did that understanding come from? if the story put it on the page, say what the story did. if it came from knowing how people are, or your own experience, then you did the story's job for it. I don't need a story to tell me that ordinary things happen. I need it to show me this person, forgiving this thing, and what it costs him. that's the part I'm reading for, and that's what's "realistic" for me. i
tbh if it's that realistic, why did the story have to skip it?
How do guys feel about people defending stories with "well it's realistic"? I've seen this being said for 2 different stories this week and it's only ever used for like characters being forgiven for bs as soon the story ends.
