I wanna be angry at gyeol, but I can't. He's giving off someone with a very slow brain, like he didn't learn how to think clearly, and can't really understand other people.
You can see from when the lil flashback of the "brother"(forgot his name), where he tied those cats, tbh idk if it's tied metaphorically or literally, but it works the same way. He's aware that his father was a "hero", but can't really grasp/understand why he's a "hero". His dad's a hero because he saved cats from fire, he tries to save cats without there being any fire, unaware that he has become the fire itself(restraining and suffocating). I don't think he's being insufferable on purpose, he realized he's bitten more than he can chew, still tries to swallow, but doesn't know what he's even eating.
He's trying to be a "save space", without understanding what type of "save space" Yesung needs rn. His heart is in the right place, but his brain can't catch up. I AM NOT DEFENDING HIS ACTIONS BTW!!! I'm just trying to understand a character from a story.
