The author is literally giving racist undertones here, and I don’t understand why they made this change. In the first season, the ML was clearly brown-skinned, and the second ML was also dark-skinned. But in the second season, the ML has suddenly been whitewashed, while the second ML the one being portrayed as the villain is still dark-skinned. So now the darker skin is consistently associated with the villainous character, while the ML has been made noticeably lighter. I don’t know what the author was trying to convey, but visually, it really comes across as if they’re associating darker skin with villainy, and that’s honestly uncomfortable to see.
