Tbh I was getting tired of this story at first because it felt like the same recycled "regretful cheater ex thinks his wife is helpless and wants to get her back , but she's already moved on with a new guy" plot I’ve read 50 times. But this chapter completely broke me... seeing that picture of the fetus and those tiny baby shoes, knowing how much she hoped things would finally get better it actually made me cry...
It really makes you wonder how Mincheol turned into such absolute trash. He wasn't some evil kid as a teen, so where did it all go so terribly wrong... It feels like as he stepped into adulthood ,his deep-seated insecurities and curdled into massive resentment toward Haesoo. Instead of taking accountability for his own life, he used her as a scapegoat, turned to cheap validation from a younger woman to feed his fragile ego, and convinced himself Haesu was just an object he owned who could never leave. I almost pity him because he still has zero self-awareness, but when the realization finally hits him that he permanently destroyed genuine love for nothing, he is going to be miserable AF...
And as for Taeha... honestly, he’s getting more toxic and manipulative by the chapter.Lying to Haesoo is bad enough, but orchestrating everything behind her back crosses a huge line. The fact that he met Mincheol without telling her, acted like her new lover and then knowingly left her alone and exposed so Mincheol would confront and hurt her to make sure she hate her ex even more and rely on Taeha is terrifyingly calculated. He’s actively using her trauma as a tool to force emotional dependency. Leaving Jay to protect her doesn't change the fact that he's intentionally letting her get hurt just so he can step in as her sole savior.
Haesu escaped one controlling man only to be puppeted by an obsessed, dangerous one, and it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. The character I like in this story are Haesu and Jay and other than that ALL of them are straight up trash...
