modern humor v traditional setting!

cheongdo looks like the usual brooding ML at first, so it was surprising and refreshing to see that he can actually match chanran's humor, giving us such an enjoyable back-and-forth whenever the two leads are together (which is not nearly enough for me honestly!!!! im the one getting the separation anxiety when they keep getting separated)

while i do find most of the humor funny, there are times when it takes me out of the story a little. there's a lot of exposition, storytelling, and chatter involved in the way the narrative unfolds. the story is even humorously self-aware of this, labeling some of it as chatter and literally fading out walls of text when they get too much. still i'll get rly invested in the lore and then get yanked right back out by sudden modern slang or pop culture references, which can feel a little jarring at first, then funny.

but looking at it from another perspective, i think it's also cool how these moments serve as a constant reminder that the story is set in modern times, while emphasizing just how isolated this little village is and how badly it's stuck in the past / tradition (architecture, clothing, beliefs, etc) ( ̄▽ ̄) just an extra layer of fun to be conscious of while i read
