It's rare for me to feel the need to comment, but I really needed to gather my thoughts and theorize a bit. So, to whoever reads this, thank you for your time, and please let me know your theories and how you think the story will unfold in the future! I completely disagree with the comments calling the MC and the group stupid. Their rebellion isn't irrational; it's a matter of dignity. Under the hounds, they were treated like caged animals, surviving through fear rather than true freedom. As the MC pointed out, people deserve the right to choose how they live—and if necessary, how they die. They will undoubtedly face a harsh reality check and inevitable sacrifices, but this is a classic post-apocalyptic growth arc. I see a The Walking Dead style evolution happening here: the MC will step up as a Rick-like leader. He’ll be forced to make devastating choices and might even seem to lose his humanity at times, but the core theme is exactly that—fighting to remain human in a world trying to strip that away. Regarding Guwon, I firmly believe he won’t stay dead. His character design stands out drastically from the otherwise perfectly ordinary cast. With his blank white eyes, neck scar, and necrotic-looking blackened body, he literally resembles Frankenstein’s monster. I strongly suspect he’s the result of a government experiment designed to create immortal super-soldiers. In fact, his bizarre physical traits might not be the result of a single lab operation. Instead, they could be the physical remnants—literal scars—of the various ways he has died and been resurrected in the past. Since this is a romance, his survival is a given—his dynamic with the MC is the very foundation of the plot. However, because Guwon is so overpowered, I believe the story will soon introduce other surviving government experiments. Confronting enemies on his level is the only way to introduce genuine, high-stakes tension into the narrative. Psychologically, Guwon is deeply misunderstood. He behaves like a child because he’s never had the chance to develop a true consciousness. If this theory of multiple deaths is true, it’s highly likely his memory wipes clean every time he is brought back to life. This continuous "reset" explains why he doesn't understand right from wrong or true empathy; he just follows a cold "instruction manual" of rules imposed on him. Unlike the genuinely cruel hounds, Guwon lacks malice. His attachment to the village is just a task he was ordered to complete, lacking real emotional weight—which is exactly why the MC calls him selfish. Thanks to the MC, Guwon is finally questioning this lifelong conditioning. If his memory does reset again after this current death, it will be incredibly compelling to watch him start over in a genuinely empathetic environment. Even if his bond with the maestro is erased, I am completely convinced he will inevitably fall in love with him a second time, finally developing a true human consciousness in the process.
A very sound thesis! I love it! It is possible Guwon he may be a super soldier of the sorts and only knows what he was progressing to know! I also thought he was a consistent reincarnation kind of guy. Where he never dies, just take a different form.
