I'm just starting this one but I'm having hunch that the reason why Planche wanted that axis of time is because he wants "Callian" to be alive. I could be wrong but so far I don't really think Planche hates Callian? Oh well. I just finished chapter 20.

Planche knows that he is not Callian. So it's either they are close or he is observing Callian a lot. I mean, even the real Callian's aid didn't notice that he is not the real Callian
