No I fucking agree. I had to drop so many stories because of sudden rape scenes that sometimes get even explained away with well the mc enjoyed it so he is not mad or traumatized? Or that is never spoken of afterwards? The moment Aaron and Yuuji chained to a fucking bed I was out. I am so sick and tired of this. I unterstand that sexual violence is a huge part of bl history (like a actually studied bl for part of my masters degree), but why the fuck are we are we still at the fucking restaurant and witness someone’s rape fetish (╬￣皿￣)凸
Is it just me or rape is what most authors do when they’re lazy? Idk if it’s okay for me to say this when most of the times I just ignore shit cause I guess SA is so common in bl that you just gotta turn off your brain, but I really just have stories that I think highly of and would make it a good recommendation to other people, and the common thing that they have is not being rapey at all. Season one of this was so good, the art was immaculate. their chemistry is also amazing, and you just really can’t help yourself be excited for season 2. But now here it is, though instead of finding ideas to make their current set up work and slowly build them once again for each other the author decided to just have the top imprison and rape the main character, which basing from their characters in S1 was so not him at all, he did a whole 180 and suddenly he’s not Aaron Hunter anymore, just your generic toxic obsessed mafia gang leader I’m-so-evil-you-can’t-escape-me top, Idk why I’m lowkey disappointed in this, maybe because with other bls you don’t really expect anything and it’s rare to find a good story that’s good and you can bond over with people in real life. For some reason as long as there is smut it has value in yaoi, so food for thought? If you wanna succeed in bl just put rape in your stories, because smut slop always sells.
