I literally say this as someone who consumes darkest of dark putrid shit and unhealthy shit about obsession/possessiveness and batshit yandere crap like that (yes. that's Roses and Champagne in my DP, I have the same critique as below). but can't they make dark arcs without rape? liik it's a bit 'silly' being okay with seeing the *fictional* captive stuff and snapping to unhinged possessiveness and all the batshit yandere shit. but come the fuck on, the rape is so fucking goddamn unecessary. most of the time I believe it's an attempt to make point about how dark and rockbottom they wanna make this. BUT THAT LITERALLY IS NOT AT ALL EFFECTIVE. the fuck. idk how to explain it but they can quite literally make unhinged obsessive stories without the rape. a fuck ton of ways can be done to make fictional dark shit still work like in yandere/obsessive/possessive/kidnapping stories---FOCUSING ON THE THOUGHTS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILL. these--THESE. exhibit A is Aron's inner monologues, THAT worked and was THRILLING and was bordering DARK. focus on those, like goddamn. make them do 'kidnapping' shit, fine, but make the desperation, inner monologues, focus on the horrors and unhinged shit that goes through the captor's mind---NO need to show rape, that's literally the power they have as fictional writers.
