I will always take the authors opinions as truth for the simple reason that some of you behave like these characters are your boyfriends or opps. Just weird parasocial shit that leads to asinine takes like that Chicago bullshit. That was the culmination of shitty takes about this story and the dangers of fans believing their opinions matter more than facts presented in the story by the author. It was wild that doyak herself had to address that nonsense when it was obvious there was no such thing as Jo and Ian reuniting in Chicago. People started pivoting and saying it was just a little inside joke but that shit was being used as fuel to bully the author and undermine her work and other readers intelligence. People called doyak a mean bully who is unprofessional for blasting a part of her fanbase like that, the irony.
I'm not saying fans opinions are automatically invalid but the way these opinions based of personal feelings are often framed as fact is what I will never agree with. You are entitled to feeling however but that's the limit of your feelings. The author and other readers don't have to feel like shit just because you hate how a story is written. Your ethics and morals didn't guide the writing of the story so you are not owed some alligence by the author simply because YOU decided to read her work.
