Complaining is how we regulate the social repercussions of this kind of story. To me people like you are the type to read Lolita and call it a love story. Crimes are not ment to be romanticized. So don’t go around expecting a positive comment section because YOU ARE READING SOMETHING NEFARIOUS. It’s not socially acceptable. Fiction or not reading stuff like this will shape the way you think if you’re not careful. Look at the chicken head call this very clear rape dub con. Imagine these people on a jury. These are the kind of social ideologies that breed situations like the Cornell 7 ext. I’m not saying stories like this shouldn’t exist but one way or another the reader must know THIS is wrong, and because the author won’t state it the readers have to for her.

the fact that you’re comparing the REAL case of a REAL WOMAN who got raped to a fucking BL just shows how skewed your perspective is. a fictional story does not compare to what a REAL PERSON went through. you can just say that you don’t like the rape, that’s totally fine! just stop trying to justify your opinion with shitty comparisons!

And this is what I mean when I say there’s a literacy crisis. My point was rapist do not think they are rapist because the social culture surrounding them enables them. we have idiots in this comment section calling this very clear rape dub con how do you think people with that kind of ideology behave in real life? At the end of the day, the shit you says indirectly affects you. And if that’s the kind of world you wanna live in, we’ll burn in it together

rape in media is not normalizing it in real life, it’s normalized by real people who would do so with or without media like this. no one with a clear head is hearing about rape in a story and think that it’s okay to do it in real life. most people can separate a BL from reality. and i actually agree with your original statement, people shouldn’t be desensitized to this sort of stuff and it’s important to call it out (in reasonable amounts, not to the point of harassment because that fixes nothing). but i was really confused by how you brought the cornell 7 case into a discussion about fucking BL

from a psychological standpoint, yes, rape in the media does normalize rape in real life. The fact that I have to explain to you guys this When I feel like it should be common sense proves that you guys are not cognitively mature enough to be reading these kind of stories. No one is born/Has traits of a rapist. So this idea that the people who rape will rape regardless is false. Have you ever heard of nature and nurture, Nurture doesn’t only apply to the mother. It applies to media/what we consume. I brought up the Cornell seven case because I bet you they had the same conversation we have. Do you really think the Cornell 7 started with gang rape? No it was a gradual degradation of their moral beliefs. And never once did I say stories like this cannot exist I said complaining is how we regulate the social repercussions of stories like this. If the author doesn’t make it clear that these kind of behavior is not normal and is bad it is the reader’s job to step in and makes societies standard for morals clear.

when you read mature stories like this, it is assumed that you have the mental capacity to understand what is right and wrong, it’s not the author’s job to hold your hand and tell you that this isn’t right. plus i don’t think flashlight is going to gloss over the rape here, authors do these things for a reason. i never said that you believe these stories shouldn’t exist, i only said that some fans take criticisms too far which made the author go private on twitter for a while, which isn’t okay. and you’re right again, no one is born with rapist ideology, but they’re raised into them. but the cornell 7 “started” because those boys were failed as kids, because they weren’t taught that rape is wrong, not because of conversations like this. ideologies like theirs and the people who failed to give them proper repercussions have existed for centuries. why do you think none of the 50 people in that group chat said anything? just complaining about rape in media isn’t going to make these issues more understood, they’re already deeply ingrained into society by misogyny and ignorance. if you’re gonna fight against issues like this, then take it publicly, and don’t use someone else’s real trauma as a talking point about BL.

Well, if you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen. You’re making every excuse in the book for the author, but really she did do this for no reason She’s a lazy writer and she’s unimaginative because somehow how many stories there are in the same exact plot has been rewritten over 1 million times. this is the last response I’m gonna give you because clearly you’re reading what I’m saying and you’re reiterating it but you’re choosing to not get the message. All the stuff you’re saying, I’ve already said, but somehow you’re using my argument to justify the opposite. It’s OK for a rape to be romanticized in the media, but it’s not OK for it to Be done in real life you sound like an oxymoron.
