I think my problem with these stories is that the rapist always ends up with the victim. I get that ml “atones” (still marks mc without explaining the whole truth though which i think shows how hes still a very selfish person.) but i just think that atonement would have been better and much more impactful if they went their seperate ways at the end. Its okay to have a story where a horrible person atones for their sins but dont make them get together with their rape victim like. I had the same problem with cozy obsession, except i would argue the ml in cozy obsession did even more horrible things and didnt do nearly as much to atone.
