Hmmm I’m confused why that old man didn’t kill her when he had the chance to in the beginning. I think he didn’t want to kill her. We see later that the old man is actually 200 years old. He went through rejuvenation and lived to be old again. Surely he didn’t spend 200 years doing fuck all. So I don’t think he was too scared to fight the injured Mc. We also see later on that the prophet woman spoke with the old man about the prophecy. Why would the old man try to kill the only person that can fight against the demon god? So now a better question is why did the old man do this to begin with?
