genuinely unless varkas shows some real emotion, i honestly think he’s one of the worst mls in the history of the villainess genres. it irritates me to no end that he shows absolutely zero comfort towards Thalia (and actually constantly ruins her love and hope in him) but also can’t bear to let her go. In a way, he’s not rly doing any physical harm to her the way other mls do in other stories, but the emotional and psychological burden we feel from the fl is so much worse
