First, this post purpose is only give another perspective on character actions, I'm not taking anyone side:
1. You do realize that this is the 5th lives right? Mc never become good person before and ONLY in this life he finally repent. We the readers gets to see mc pov to become sympathetic with him but remember this: Mc was not a saint.
2. Mc betrayed ml 3 times:
First when he realized mc's feelings is nothing but platonic. It's implied that someone tried to SA ml because of his good looks. Imagine trusting someone but he looks at you with lust/romantic, it's understandable that he terrified of him.
Second, when he left him to go to battlefield.
Third when he had a hands with his father to kill his loved ones. Mc used to be someone he trusted the most, so multiple betrayal, one of them is lead to the dead someone precious and it's coming from person he trusted, no wonder he gets crazy. But only when mc at deaths door he realized torment him is just excuse, this is when he finally broken and tried revived mc. I feel like this is when finally mc's place in his life surpassed luce, when luce died, he breaks and killing people. But when mc died he chooses to broke the taboo and even think to dedicate his life to protect mc. He is yet to realize he can let luce go but not mc.
About selfish move why he trying to revives mc in 4th timeline but not before need to be scrutinized.
It took 4 timelines for seme to finally realised something, I m not saying seme is bad or uke is bad I m saying how circumstances changed for uke all those timeline left uke with nothing but weak body now , uke was selfish cuz he loved seme and didn't like the fact he chooses luce , meanwhile seme just used hate as mechanism to keep uke inside his heart in 4th timeline he locked up uke in prison and tortured him for what luce his lover , again not saying what uke did was right at all but to torture uke make him drink poison over time broke his ankel just to see him suffer at last uke finally lost will to live only to come back to life may be if seme hadn't interfered he wouldn't have remembered previous life and uke wouldn't be this weak but what he did to uke in return doens't justify anything he knows he should left uke this timeline and choos luce yet he just feel if I reborn him he should be mine that's what he is thinking..... Uke made all the wrong choices in blindness of love he confessed to seme only to get rejected badly very badly , .. at last he strip off from every honour there was no one to mourn even for his desth even seme knows that when uke died he should have thrown party instead he just sat and didn't even shed a single tear.
If it happened exactly what you said aka ml should let mc go and be happy with luce, then this story would not been born. Just admit this pairing not your cup of tea. This is obviously about let go of the past and how to mend the relationship between mc and ml while reach their happy ending.
The confession part happened when ml was, mind you, still a child. Like I said before he fell betrayed. Countless people drawn to his looks and looks him dirty, he doesn't have a good relationship his family then trusted adult confessed his love to him when he's yet to be adult himself? That's even more fvcked up coming from someone close to him especially at that time he doesn't have romantic feelings for mc.
Also I finally read to chapter 34, you said ml still meeting with luce, like what is he supposed to do when it's part of mc plan? mc want to know the new luce in this timeline and same goes with ml. ML make it clear that he's gonna stay with him as escort knight aka stay in scala not the capital where luce resides. All he did during the meeting only gives polite small and observing. Ml has sharp tongue and from time to time he doesn't even understand what he wanted to do himself but he keeps being misunderstood by mc cause part of mc being unreliable narrator who's still stuck in past narrative (such as ml wanting to share bed because he wants to keep him safe, mc judge it as ml wants him to suffered for life).
Don't bring if it's not my cup of my tea I should drop , i clearly read same storyline and I would still say seme is no saint , uke suffered throughout and remember every life unlike seme who only remembers previous one and he killed uke in most vacious ways uke is not unreliable narrator but he is doing what he supposed to have done long ago not getting his high hopes on seme , why would he understand seme now who clearly killed uke for luce why should he trust his words of staying by uke side while seme never wanted him in the first place as of uke know, he just want to leave and still thinks seme is still young just as he saw seme falling in love with luce he believe it would have happen again cuz for luce seme did everything.. clearly him not being vocal enough about his feelings is reason why uke doens't trust him , don't bring unreliable narrator stuff when uke clearly died by the very hand he wanted to be Loved by only to born in weak body and broken ankel

.for uke , seme still meeting up with his ex lover luce who is now playboy and seme body is changing he is becoming total tall but uke is sad hate himself how he still love seme even though he knows he would never be loved by anyone , it's sad really it's like my heart ache each time when talk of child come from father of seme uke inside thought were that " child hair would be platinum or silver" cuz luce or seme has those hair , seme is sure he would never exist and get to be part of seme he is even ready to leave his fiefdom to seme strip himself off from title after divorce and meanwhile seme is total psycho mode he is conflicted himself still knows he wants uke alive. It was such a selfish move from side of seme to make uke reborn and now in 5th timeline his body is very weak with limp leg as well and uke just has no confidence want no one's love just want seme to be happy with luce , it's angsty but best thing about this story is it's just emotional torture at least there are no rape or SA I m alright with reading.
