i thought some more about why i like this abusive story and not others—specifically Jinx, but also Salvation Spirit, Reverse Thinking (the webnovel and the manhwa), and similar. i really think it boils down to this: Gig of the Day doesn't portray abuse as something that enriches the characters' sex lives. yeomin's suffering isn't smut material.
it's nice that the author clearly establishes that taesoo's behavior is wrong, but i don't need it to be so explicit to still enjoy the story. i just can't stand it when noncon and other forms of abuse are conflated with horniness, especially when the disadvantaged partner enjoys it sexually but otherwise suffers.
