ok ok hear me out PLS HEAR ME OUT I really don't try to give characters excuses for sex crimes, irl rapists are scum and tbh with this manhwa I really wouldn't be as bothered if it is rape and I'm just losing it considering they're both immoral asf people, but I want to raise a point. pls give me a sec
Ofc, the ML should've never done that either way since it was completely unclear at best and even if he moved away midway when kicked, he's still awful. And if all drugged sex is rape in everyone's eyes or in the eyes of the law in your country, then it definitely was rape! But I hear that's not necessarily the case, which is why I'm not completely sure it was rape from the MC's pov. I think it's dubious consent. NOT because of the way our MC acted like he was into it during that compromising situation where we can only infer that he was attracted to our ML and might be interested if he wasn't drugged, since they fuck later on in the manhwa. None of that means anything; people in relationships can be raped. But the way our MC acts and thinks afterwards makes me wonder.
In ch 13, our MC goes "Does that bastard like men?" with a cute blush and has some banter with his bro, which is a complete lightening of a rape situation, and while this manhwa treats killing like it's normal, they do not pretend death and child abuse are okay, so why would the writer completely belittle smth like this? In this chapter and in later chapters, our MC also begins to think about how he could use the ML through sex. This could mean he's taking advantage of a bad situation, sure, but also, given that he's in denial of his interest in men, it could also mean that on some level he just wants to fuck and has wanted to since they first got into a heated moment.
IF IT'S RAPE IT'S RAPE BUT our MC would care more, no? At least we would see some indication of trauma or discomfort that these same writers have shown with the younger bro's flirty friend. And yet, despite our MC being a very bold and brazen thinker, not once since they did it does he mention harbouring any actual anger or upset from that interaction to my understanding. A flippant irritation, yes, but he's not even avoiding him properly. It seems like even with the drugs, he wanted it. Or he at least kinda liked it until the kick, which made the ML stop.
This is why I think it's dubious consent, not straight-up rape
(disclaimer: irl rape is real and horrible, I'm not and would never say otherwise)
