Guys I feel like the reason he ghosted her is not because he couldn’t handle the fact she was better than him, but because he built himself on the image of being so cool to her, he felt pathetic when he didn’t make it into the high school. He was embarrassed and thought she would no longer see him the same way she did before. Like a “wow so he’s not the guy I thought he was” kinda way. I think he thought she only liked him because he was dazzling, and if she realised he wasn’t truly like that, she’d be disappointed and leave. So he was scared, embarrassed, and avoided her because he felt he’d disappointed her. Just my interpretation tho!
