I need to rant about why this is genuinely one of the greatest psychological bls omg
I just read this for the first time ever, and the plot twist that yunwon was the one getting buillied instead of dohun was so immaculate. Since their first encounter, yunwon keeps putting himself in the role of the "hero". This is obviously a result of his childhood, And once he met dohun again, he found an amazing way to cope with his actual life, to just pretend that dohun is the one getting bullied, that he can step in once in a while to feel heroic, and that he can blame dohun for him getting caught up with bullies himself. He needs someone to blame, thats a big fundamental of his character, its his way of coping. And after a while, he grew fond of dohun, letting himself be completely overtook by his sense of blaming someone else. But this also resulted in something greater, he stopped blaming dohun, and focused on him being the hero role. So all that built up trauma from his whole life resulted in him losing memories/ replacing memories with how he wishes they happened.
But Dohun also wanted to be the hero.
Since his childhood he has been severely abused and brainwashed, and all he knows is that "Everything is fine" and "Its all your fault". When meeting yunwon, he finally experienced something new. But yet, yunwon blamed his unfortunate on dohun. But thats what dohun has known all his life, he finds comfort in someone blaming him, if that can lessen THEIR pain at least. In Highschool, dohun always stepped up to yunwon being bullied, not caring about anyone else. He wouldve done anything for yunwon to like him, because thats all he needs. because yunwon is his destiny. So as selfless as he is, he keeps helping him, and yunwon keeps blaming him, both doing exactly what the other one wants. And theres that. their highschool years. All dohun needs is for yunwon to love him.
But in the adult life, this flips completely. After being forced to part ways, dohun and yunwon meet again, yunwon the same as before, a helpless mess. But dohun is different, he changed. Completely. Hes rich. He has power. That made yunwon uncomfortable. He likes being the one helping, and seeing as dohun suddely takes charge, always getting him out of situations, not only did it irritate him, it made him completely unhappy. Instead of finally being able to let go of all the trauma, to let himself live a comfortable life, his messed up head would never let him do that. he hates being pitied more than anything. And dohun notices, he noticed yunwon being unhappy. dohun wanted to make yunwons life better, but all of yunwons anxiety, paranoia, trauma responses kept building up, leaving him in a state of non stop anxiety. All he sees is how suspicious dohun is, how he can blame him once again, not once looking at whats in front of him.
This story is so complex because they are made for each other. They love each other more than anything. But can they truly be happy, or is there something blocking that from happening? With yunwons mental state, is he even able to recover? And dohun, could he finally be able to live a life free from the brainwashing, and finally as himself? Or is that all in the past, and they are completely doomed.
Im so insanely excited to see where this story goes, as its already so amazing
