oh THEY ARE sisyphus

I don't understand, please help explain

It’s greek mythology. In short, Sisyphus was a guy who tricked the gods many times. The gods punished him by making him push a large boulder up a hill and once he reached the top, the boulder would roll back down forcing him to repeat it.. leading to a never ending cycle.
