I think fans disappointment come from how bad the company managed this issue. This work is based on an existing novel, which means Han is just an artist drawing it.
It's normal for an artist to take a break when they are sick, health is important and job is not everything. But when a project kept getting delayed and stuck for a long time because one of the worker can't continue the work, the company should have swooped in and provide extra worker on board (2nd main artist, a team of assistants). Han is not the brain of this operation, that's the author. She's the hand, which means we can find another artist to take the reign when she can't.
I disagree with people who said there is nobody who can draw as good/similar as Han, this is the art world with tons of talented artists, anything is possible. They can work as captain and vice-captain, main artist and backup artist, or artist 1 and artist 2. This is a group project, not Han's personal work. This is a professional world where consumers trust and money is involved, and as such they should prioritize making this project runs smoothly.
