It was shown that the whole time he had a problem with confronting his own thoughts and emotions. To him, she had become everything- and when he thought that he lost that, he felt he lost himself. He was a stubborn idiot that didn't go back until the island was gonna be cleared. He was forced to atone for his crimes by having lived most of his life without her but longing for her. I wish he had gone back sooner, and I'm sure he does too. Maybe it's just me thinking about it strangely though
No I agree with you Rena. He thought she was dead, maybe he should have stayed in the duke's house waiting for the doctors to be done with their job. Anyway, he thought the love of his life was gone and he handled grief by wandering with no purpose. He carried her everywhere since she was his everything. But I like how you interpreted as atonement for his crimes
I just love the story but what the f*** is with the ending like if they both were alive and maybe the girls needed 10 or 20 years to get treated then they should have already be united like y they are getting reunited at the end in there 70s. And more about this if the girl wasn't dead why the boy left her when she was getting treated I think if he really loved her, he should have stayed with her until the end, he walked out from there without knowing whether she my is live or dead. Even he didn't collected information like where her grave was or when she did died like why bro
