When did this fluffy, wholesome story turn into a literal red/black flag nightmare??? Like, of ALL the side story concepts they could have explored, from a historical AU to an omegaverse or literally ANYTHING else, they chose to go down THIS path??? What the actual fuck?
They had endless possibilities, and THIS is what they went with? If the author was so desperate to explore these themes, why not just create an entirely new story with different characters? Why ruin something that was already so beautiful?
I genuinely hate how much this has tainted the original work. It's gotten to the point where this is practically all people talk about now, completely overshadowing what made the story so special in the first place. And that's honestly the saddest part.
