princess julia

You know, princess julia is a complex character. You can't reduce her identity as someone simply “evil” and no, Iʼm not saying sheʼs good or whatsoever but I understand her trauma and her past and how, in a way, you can define her as a victim of her circumstances but what happened in this chapter made me realize that maybe, when she was younger, you can consider her as a victim of her circumstances but now? Definitely not.

She knows what she did is technically “wrong”, hence why she feels so distraught about it, asking her nanny for help, but at the same time excuses herself for it for her own selfish reasons. You can see in her dialogues that she doesn't feel sorry for any of the the deaths she caused at all. The only thing she feels is panic and worry that someone mightʼve seen her and how this will negatively affect her. She's aware what she did was murder but doesn't seem to feel too wrong about it because in her perspective, she had a reason and that reason, to her, is valid enough to murder someone. Sheʼs morally skewed, probably mostly due to her environment growing up. I also partially blame her nanny for that since her nanny cleans her mess up for her, enabling her actions further but like, at the end of the day, sheʼs her own person. Sheʼs morally skewed because she chooses to stay as one.
