This story is simpler than what ppl confusing abt.
Both soho & alec are from abusive household. While soho had it harder since he was little, alec could still grew normally since he ever received care from his mom.
Soho couldn't feel what love is, he's dead inside, numb to affection & romance, only ever known abt possessiveness. He killed his parents, so that he could be free & make the house all to himself (when alec asked why he thoroughly cleaned the house regularly, soho answered bcs it's his).
Not long after he killed his parents, alec moved to the area, bullied soho, then soho locked in to make alec his, he played along so alec could fall to his grasp.
Alec fell deeply in love with soho, while soho didn't. He said he would only love someone like him (whom is truly free and killed his own parent) or corpse. But I got the impression soho was able to "love" alec eventually when he shot his own dad. Soho also finally embraced alec first when he showed his parents's grave. He also said soon after alec killed his dad, alec could be finally free like him, and become the true alec. Maybe this version of alec is finally someone who's like him, someone that's worthy of his "love". Though I'm sure the love wasn't anything like what true love is, more like caring and catering to alec's wants & needs.
Abt the last parts of last chapter, the missing person mentioned on the news was soho parents. Those 2 girls in first chapter told alec that the missing ppl were only soho's parents & there was no one else. Soho didn't kill anyone else after his parents & before torturing alec's dad.
While they didn't show soho in the last panel, who held alec's hand, the couple hugging shown on TV was like symbolism or implicitly giving "finally they could be together happily ever after". Alec was also shown smiling in pure bliss.
