I won't say too many spoilers here, but read with caution! I read this nonstop because of how the story started to pick up and take on a unique narrative compared to other bls out there, especially with the characters, even if they were originally shown to be pretty stereotypical (which isn't bad imo!) The character development was great, and the relationship development was lovely. But unfortunately, I couldn't shake off the fact that their whole relationship started because the mc found ml as a child and cared for him until he at least APPEARED to be a teenager. And yes, I do see how it was hinted that the ml had lived for much longer beforehand and (SPOILER!) only turned into a child because that was what he first saw after lingering for a while, but it was never explicitly said how old he was or how long he roamed. It was never stated how long he was in his child form nor was it mentioned how old he became once he and the mc have sex. Mc didn't initiate it at first, but that means nothing when you feed into it later on. I don't understand why their relationship had to be deep and almost mutually obsessive because of that. They could have met as adults or as children, leading to a more natural (and ethical) path to romance between the two, but the fact we didn't rubbed me the wrong way. Major spoilers now. The way the mc became aware of their past lives together and how he raised the ml, then DIDN'T CARE and even make jokes about it, saying "you were just like this when you were younger" made me really uncomfortable. Yes, I know it's technically different now and that they are two consenting adults NOW. However, it's just forced to make it true love when the ml never had a chance to fall in love with anyone else but the mc. It doesn't make it special, it makes it funneled and borderline pedo content. The art was obviously good, as bad art would've made this unbearable, and the characters were interesting, each to their own degree, but I can't get over this part. The concept of an obsessed, yearning male lead doesn't need to come from the fact that he's only ever seen the main character. I'd even argue that, in a world where the male lead is surrounded by people beautiful, powerful, or charming, all he WANTS to see is the main character. This type of ml isn't swayed by others because he chooses to love this trusted person with all his heart, not because he has memories of his lover raising him. Anyway, I'm sorry this is so long. Overall, I'd say this was an interesting, captivating story that stained its side with the flashback and lore between the characters. Don't let this stop you from reading this, since it WAS sweet with good angst! I just think there were better ways to go about their past.
