Has my favorite confession scene and one of my favorite sex scenes - in a grey-romantic, grey-ace couple. Finally, side representation! Comes with content warnings (I know ppl check the comments for those)

Spoilers ahead:

I wish the speech bubbles had tails for their last living words to each other. Was Mamiya the only one to say "I love you"? I would find it really beautiful either way. I've been thinking a lot about what makes a love story compelling. I think the key is to start with characters that are interesting, compelling, and well rounded - their decisions, actions, motivations, etc have to make sense. Then I think it's just like how the cracks from use gives loved objects a lived-in beauty, seeing how people love each other when they are not perfect - I think that's the compelling element for me. The two main characters have foibles, quirks, traumas, they make mistakes and commit crimes - and love each other and grow together.

I think Sada's face when he explains wanting to continue living even if it required killing is where the cover illustration came from. He's such an upright character, governed strongly by an internal sense of morality, and he was presented with a situation that required him to commit terrible acts. Sometimes I wonder if Nemui sensei throws a dartboard at horrible things people can do, and builds a story and characters out of that. That was a joke, but they are probably the most intriguing mangaka writing romance (imo)

My heart actually feels heavy reading (and rereading) the end of this comic. Once there is a translation for sale that I can read I'll happily pay whatever they're asking to own this. I almost never buy things in general, and especially comics as I read them too fast and read too many. I be wearing out my library cards tho, and try to support the medium as best I can.
