It’s suspicious we’re getting another chapter tomorrow. Strongly feel like this season is done and we’re getting a timeskip. Now that I think about it Il-woo’s cousins probably aren’t a threat since they can’t find him so the main person who is involved in a lot of stuff is Baekhee.

The threat of his father is looming and Gyeom is threatening not only his survival but also Il-woo’s. Anyone who cares for someone wouldn’t want to involve them with such a person. The problem isn’t that baekhee doesn’t know gyeom is terrible. He knows he’s treated like a toy and used to convince himself that he likes Gyeom to keep the small pride and dignity he has left (and in the past I’m sure he did have a crush but Gyeom became crueler to others and then finally Baekhee himself) now it became harder for him to lie to himself… especially when he was treated like a human being by Il-woo and even getting to know what real love should be like. Not to mention the fact that in a way it’s realistic what Baekhee is doing, if it were me I’d cling on to that lifeline too. Baekhee doesn’t have much money saved and he’s afraid of life outside of Gicheon because that’s all he’s ever known.

As someone from a small town I get it, it’s overwhelming to imagine a big city type life and he doesn’t have much saved for a place as expensive as Seoul. Of course he doesn’t need Gyeom but he’s been manipulated and his deepest fears are being validated everyday by the constant reminders and brainwashing that asshole does.

Gyeom has gotten more violent in his treatment in every way too. No longer even bothering the fragile mask of ‘niceness’ he had with Baekhee now that his ‘toy’ has left his grasp and connected with someone for once in his life. He’s mad and jealous over those two and his desire to be someone’s everything and play God in his life while toying with him whenever and however is crumbling as Baekhee questioned and distanced himself subtly. That rapist bastard will do whatever it takes to ‘own’ him.

Baekhee isn’t stupid nor terrible for choosing to ‘defend’ Gyeom. This fawn type of response is nothing new and there is no such thing as a perfect victim. If anyone says they can withstand the loneliness and despair & not be manipulated like Baekhee is, are lying to themselves. It’s simply never going to be easy to trust when no one’s ever been on your side except someone who finds you ‘fun’ to mess around with. (I mean before he met Il-woo)

Il-woo and Baekhee are both suffering and the theory of Baekhee’s dad killing Il-woo’s grows stronger w each chapter

No matter what happens next chapter, we cannot blame Baekhee for any of his actions. He’s doing the best he can to protect himself and the person he loves even if it means hurting him
