I believe the story is about Naoki finally finding Ryou, someone he could love and treasure after his distressing heartbreak.
I am just in awe of their support to their friend Yuuji with the mindset of they’re simply supporting him no matter what happens (regardless of what happens to sensei) cuz they prolly knew if they went the hardcore way of suddenly forcing him to not meet him it might backfire and he’ll just clam around everyone, Naoki and Ryou included.
As for sensei, can’t excuse what he’s done, he has a screw loose in the head. But his character I believe is there to explain that those who were victims, regardless of what kind, might make victims of others too. I’m glad Yuuji didn’t turn out like that…. But somehow he made sensei change too, like since he resolved himself to love him after whay happened, so I’m happy that at that point it kinda became a mutual thing than a one-way shitshow of both having ulterior motives and simply full of manipulations just like how it started.
