Like did we read the same story? He was interested in the og!Ophelia because she couldn't be charmed by him; that interest was NOT romantic. He literally said he was in on the marriage because the more fuss she makes, the more he could do stuff in the shadows.
We all saw that he only grew attracted to her romantically when it was the FL in Ophelia's body already. He's smart, he noticed Ophelia was acting different the moment FL entered her body, but ofc he wouldn't think it's a different soul. The fact that she admitted it just now and he accepted it right away only supports his growing suspicion from the beginning.
Yes, it was annoying that FL was like 'he would probably hate me when he finds out I'm not the real ophelia,' but that's only natural bec she entered that body in the middle of the story without knowing how ML truly felt abt og!Ophelia the entire time.
