Uahh.. was this ending disappointing! For a moment I was convinced she actually died and left him a letter written before passing. And that last scene to be just Shinpei deluding himself or hallucinating.
Now. I get that he misunderstood and though her to be dead, leading him to wander around.. but could she send people to look for him anyway? To ask about his whereabout and try to track him down? 50 years apart to reunite when you're so old.. bullshit ending. I think I'll keep my little fantasy and continue to believe this is just his delusions. ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
