Girl that’s okay. I’ve done that as well (rereading some of my faves back then and somehow feeling confused as to why i liked it in the first place) some books are meant to be read before our frontal lobe fully develops lmaoo.
Ok but in all seriousness, bl is not a good place to take sexual traumas seriously. It’s rather used as a device plot to use as a mean to a) have the couple be together b) help explain the complex of the character c) fetish d) mentioned above + more.
Basically it’s not meant to be taken seriously and should only be read for fun/hobby.
But I do get your point, I’ve been reading less bl ir even any other genre of manga/manhwa these days. All I read these days are the updated works that I’ve already followed for a long time :)
But that’s just between me & my adulthood lmaoo

sharing my thoughts cuz i have no one to talk abt this, soooo sorry in advance. i just need to vent bc honestly, the way bl stories portray sexual trauma makes me wanna distance myself from reading. like READING IS SUPPOSED TO HELP ME RELAX BUT NOW ITS STRESSING ME OUT AND MAKING ME GO INSANE
so ive stumbled upon my list of the bls ive read, and ive realized that these past few years, i was really busy, so whenever i read, it was mostly just to pass the time. but now that ive been rereading some of those stories, i cant help but question how i digested certain things back then. how did i read through all of that without reacting to it the way i do now?? ╥﹏╥ THENN lately, since ive had more free time to read, ive also been trying out new stories, and i cant help but notice how normalized SA/sexual trauma seems to be in the progression of so many bl stories. i do admit that even then it was already questionable, but it just seems too much ╥﹏╥
im just really uncomfortable with how SA is being normalized, like its a part of the culture?? like WHY WOULD IT BE THO ╥﹏╥ i get that these topics can be explored in stories, but sometimes, it feels like theyre being used as plot devices without much thought about what it actually means to experience that kind of trauma. and honestly, there are times when it doesnt even feel like the story is trying to portray trauma anymore, but rather fetishizing it. likeee why does sexual trauma have to be such a common thing for a story to progress? ╥﹏╥ idk i just really wanna hear some other thoughts
