I started looking back between blossoms of the white night and Smyrna & Capri trying to put some things together. I know the author said that we weren’t getting Mpreg, but that’s not to say that we won’t get any children. I mean the lines still have to continue up until Smyrna & Capri, right?
So I started looking at the plant that allows Theo to go from Alpha to omega. It’s a fig plant called Shira Fig. The tools that they use to take the juice from the fig and ingest it so that their body begins to change looks sort of like what Shuraka used to inhale Shaiwa to reduce his libido, but it’s also a poison. As far as I know, we don’t get very much about the fig that is used to take Theo from Alpha to Omega, but from what I think I understand is that too much use of the fig could cause damage to the body, which is why you can only be Smyrna once I believe.
We also learned that Shuraka’s blood is like a nutrients to plants and that when he dies from the poison that’s building up in his body plant sprout from his body because of the nutrients in his blood so that led me to believe that between his blood and his powers to make dead plants come back to life. He could probably create something that would allow him to escape from the poison, killing him while also completing the task of procreation, with Tei… and the fig would’ve had to have started somewhere, so it’s reasonable to believe that it was created with the purpose of allowing someone to have a child but at the same time there is no mpreg so we have to work around that.
The fig isn’t going to magically create a child without being carried in a womb, but there’s definitely some connection between biological and magical foundations that eventually make the Shira fig. There’s just too many plants in blossoms of the white night to ignore that the plants could probably lead to what causes the procreation, besides the fig or course.
The eye of Natam isn’t just life magic because the holders are specifically described as being able to bring life to barren land.. Natam is the God of life and death and reproduction is a major part of the religion, there has to be connections that I’m missing with this.
I highly doubt Natam would let Shuraka end the bloodline completely, and what if something happens to the child that was chosen to succeed Shuraka? There’s no way Natam would let Shuraka die before giving a true successor to him. I don’t think it would let the cycle break because from what I understand is Shuraka is basically saying he’s choosing the next ruler but Arnata mythology heavily states that Natam chooses.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my TED talk lmfao.
