decapitating guwon with just a damn shovel is so gruesome

shit escalated so quick, i honestly forgot jinwoo was sleepwalking to kill, at first i thought like hey jinwoo is the representation of sisyphus in this story however, now im thinking he’s more like merope (sisyphus wife) or has traits of merope.
in the mythology merope was told to make human sacrifices after sisyphus had trapped death which meant that no mortal thing would die, it caused problems hence the sacrifices to weight the balance in a way.

tbh i feel like that the characters involved in sisyphus dont exactly have a solid representation in this manhwa, im thinking that traits and events that happened in greek mythology are mentioned.
as for the philosophical part of it, the depiction of nihilism and the absurd are shown here from the townspeople. in philosophy basically the greek mythology was used to discuss about how life is essentially meaningless yet humans try to impose order on their existence and sought for something that has no answer to.

in this part reminds me on the townspeople, the townspeople crave order and somewhat an authority on their own living existence, the fear instilled within them from the brutality they faced from guwon is justified, however they failed to see the bigger picture of survival; rationality rules above all but emotions hindered their thought.

as for the time loop/resurrection kind of ties in when sisyphus died at the hands of death after being released by ares (i think), he went to persephone in the underworld and basically begged her to bring him back to the mortal world temporarily to punish his wife and makedo with his funeral (but actually bro was the one to set this all up lol)
persephone granted his wish and he was sent back to the mortal world, but he didnt go with what he said and escapes the gods and lives a second life till he died of old age (and thats when he was condemned to do meaningless labour which was him pushing up the boulder at the top of the cliff to roll back down again)
wow i basically just recounted the story but what i was saying that the resurrection/time loop part in this manhwa ties back to when sisyphus managed to live out his second life.

the only questions i have is why is there a timeloop, why does jinwoo have gaps in his memory, why was there an apocalypse in the first place.
ughhh im gonna reread this so i can get a clearer picture, and i also love the pace of the story, it doesnt drag it out
