Am I the only one who thinks a bittersweet or tragic ending would actually be the most satisfying conclusion? To me, a sad ending can serve as a deeply meaningful 'happy ending' in disguise. Imagine if they reunite and Ilwoo helps Baekhee heal from his trauma, but Baekhee remains entirely unaware of Ilwoo’s own deteriorating mental health until it's too late and Ilwoo passes away.
It might sound strange, but to me it feels incredibly fitting. Baekhee would be left with the heavy memory of him, but the tragedy is tempered by something beautiful, even though Ilwoo is gone, his profound impact inspires Baekhee to keep moving forward and live a righteous life. Additionally, I feel like the narrative representation of sexual assault could have been fleshed out a bit more and handled with a little more depth, but maybe that’s just my take.
