well tbf zhenya would never do this to taekjoo after he finally develops feelings for him. all the abuse towards taekjoo (vols 1-3) has nothing to do with love and everything to do with taekjoo being a terrorist (and lust). AND MORE IMPORTANTLY taekjoo walks zhenya like a dog, treats him like he's a dildo, and makes zhenya work for it for seven volumes straight (all the way till the end). so atleast zhenya gets punished, and faces consequences for his abuse.
unlike ilay who is doing this because he has no idea how to emotionally process his love for taeui, and so a simply miscommunication turns violent. ilay is brutally raping taeui cause he loves him but he's too fucking dumb to understand that. and ilay is just so lucky taeui is taeui (who is simply too kind-hearted for all the shit he goes through). there's honestly no other person who can love a man like ilay like taeui does. and ilay doesnt deserve it

I mean, I haven't read the novel for passion, but having read both novels for CNA, yeah I'd say there's a difference. But I'm not a person who downplays zhenyas sins either
