I just want to let you all know that ilay has no redemption arc whatsoever, the only reason why i’m even hanging on by a thread with this book is because of how damaged ilay’s character is, even after all this, he becomes obsessive, easily jealous, and will force himself on Tae because that’s his fucking character, as frustrating as that is, I can kind of see how even when he feels something towards tae, love can never truly change how he REALLY IS

Tae in some similar aspect, can never really let go of Ilay because he’s already fallen in too deep into the hole he dug himself, as sad as their relationship is, Tae acknowledges that he can never truly change Ilay and Ilay will never be able to let him go

so if you’re hoping for their relationship to develop, it won’t, they’ll continue to be unhealthy until eventually they both start to lose each other

I read the novel and it's basically true. Just that they develop a codependency and start to accommodate eachother more in the side story
