that’s the problem with the flag system these people have started using— it completely ignores context in these stories. it’s not that eve is a red flag, as u say, it’s that his PURPOSE in life is to be as strong as possible. if he’s weak, he dies. this is him feeling desire for the first time, and he’s learning to navigate it. ugh.
But it’s apparent he was literally raised to not value any life, even his own. Just by his words it’s clear as day he was told he’d die if he was weak and that was just how it was supposed to be. He’s a man-made product, treated like a replaceable machine, and he clings to the one thing he’s ever found in his life that treats him like more than that and he wants to keep that close.
